August Gardening To-Do-List

Continue maintaining your gardens. Weeding, watering, and fertilizing are tops on the list to keep your garden and your yard in tiptop shape.

-Deadhead annuals and perennials. Removing the fading blooms and seed heads will encourage more flowering.

-Remove the brown foliage from your spring bulbs.

-If your spring flowering bulbs didn't perform well this spring. Dig them up after the foliage has died back, divide and replant.

-Continue watering young trees and shrubs weekly.

-If your plants are looking a bit worse for wear due to storms or not enough water while on vacation at the cabin, stop into Hilltop Gardens. We continue to stock fresh shipments of perennials, annuals, shrubs and trees all summer long. We will have what you need to revitalize your yard.

Hilltop Happenings in August

Your gardens are in full bloom and your vegetables are growing but at Hilltop Gardens we are in high gear with our Farm Market and continue to offer a wide selection of perennials and annuals to freshen your home.

Friday August 6th - By Email Club Invitation Only, Customer Appreciation Preview. If you are not a member of our Email Club, sign up today to hear about events and sales.

Saturday August 7th - Customer Appreciation Events, we will be serving Hot Dogs and Watermelon along with Fabulous Savings on Plants, Fountains, Statuary and Home Décor. Join us as we Thank You for your continued patronage.

Sunday August 8th - Kelly will be hosting a class on Canning Tomatoes. This class will go step by step through the simple process of canning Tomatoes. 1 p.m.

Saturday August 14th - Deb will be serving homemade treats made with our fresh fruits and vegetables

Sunday August 15th - Ashley will be leading our popular Fairy Garden Class. Sign up soon, as this class is sure to fill up fast. 1 p.m.

Saturday August 21th - Come sample some of McCutchsen most popular canned products.

Sunday August 22nd - Third Annual Peach Bake-Off, this is an opportunity for you to share your culinary skills with others in a fun competition for honors as the best Peach Dessert at Hilltop Gardens. Prizes will be awarded. 11 a.m.

Thursday August 26th - Ashley will be leading our popular Fairy Garden Class. Sign up soon, as this class is sure to fill up fast. 6 p.m.

Sunday August 29th - Anita, will be back to lead a class on cooking with green chili. Those who participated last year will know that this is a fun class with lots of delicious samples. 1 p.m.

Sunday September 12th - Mark your calendar for the Sixth Annual Chili Cook-Off. Everyone looks forward to this event. This year we are adding a Salsa Taste-Off as well. We are looking forward to sampling both the Chili and Salsa. We know from the past Hilltop Gardens has the best cooks in the area. 11 a.m.
